Female dog
Age: 3 Years
All Border Collie Rescue

Sex: Female Age: 3 Years Coat: Black & White Smooth Coat Weight: 38 Activity Level: Active Companion Good with other dogs: Yes

This wonderful, young girl is a high energy, fun-loving ball of happiness. She loves to know where you are and even on leash she likes to check in to make sure she is doing the right thing! She likes all dogs, cats, children. Z is house-trained, up-to-date on her shots, micro-chipped, spayed and ready for her fur-ever family. She is just starting to show interest in balls and toys. Not keen on water but is willing to try almost anything. She walks well on leash and would make a fantastic obedience or agility dog – she’s fast on her feet and a very quick learner. She is crate trained but if you think you can leave her for 8-plus hours a day cooped up she will not flourish as she deserves. This lady needs walks, attention and a job and she will reward you with kisses, cuddles and boundless loyalty and love. She currently lives with 4 other dogs, 3 cats and regular visits from the neighborhood children – everyone loves her!

Billing

Male dog
Age: 2 - 3 Years
All Border Collie Rescue

Sex: Male Age: 2 – 3 Years Coat: Black & White Rough Coat Weight: 45 Activity Level: Active Companion Good with other dogs: Yes

Background:

ABCR rescued Billing from a shelter in Waco, Texas. He was to be euthanized after being picked up as a stray. Billing was, at one time, very clearly someone’s beloved companion; he is so well trained! His owner, however, could not be located and there was no way our rescue could turn down this handsome, sweet boy who is so smart!

Looks & Temperament:

Billing’s face is a classic blaze black and white blaze. He has a traditional white collar and white tipped tail, along with some white on his chest and legs/feet. Billing is a very happy boy, friendly, sweet, loving, devoted, and ball crazy! He goes with the flow most of the time but can be very quick to “sound the alert” when an unknown person is approaching his foster mom’s fence line to make sure she knows someone is outside. Billing gets along with every person when introduced correctly to them – taking him on leash out of the yard and doing introductions out of his territory. After less than a minute, and a only a few seconds in most cases now, Billing shows he is at ease and comfortable; both children and adults are able to greet him and love all over him. Then they are his friends and can even come in the yard! Once we figured this out, Billing started making all kinds of human friends and everyone loves him.

Cats & Children:

Billing has been tested with older children (11+) and does great with them. He has not been tested with cats.

Other Dogs & Play:Billing would do great in a family with another dog or as only dog.  His current foster home has many other dogs of all sizes, ages, and genders, and he gets along well with most of them but displays herding tendencies at times when other dogs are playing fetch, and likes to herd the other dogs who are chasing the ball. As an active companion, daily walks/runs and sometimes dog park time are a must. Very importantly to him, though, Billing would love to play fetch with you as long as you want to throw the ball! He would like to play some every day! A Chuck-it (or other tennis ball thrower) will be your second best friend, Billing being your first! Fetch is his favorite thing; he is very ball-driven and fetch can be used as a reward for him much like “tug” is often used as a reward for dogs who participate in agility and flyball.

Training:

Billing came to ABCR house trained, crate/kennel trained and already knowing “sit,” “lay down,” “come,” “shake,” “drop it” and “ball” (or “go get/find your ball.”) He is super smart and will be easy to teach other commands and tricks! He is currently working on being a very good “loose leash” walker, and prolonging his “sit stay” and “down stay.” His “down stay” is very good already. Billing is progressing quickly with these commands and also goes into his kennel on command!

Due to Billing’s territorial and herding tendencies, we prefer that he is only adopted by an experienced Border Collie owner.

Billing is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He has no known health problems at this time. Billing’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in giving him a forever home, please go to the home page of our website and submit an adoption application. He is ready to come home and be someone’s main squeeze again! We get in many applications every day and try our best to respond to each one within a week. After we review your application, a phone interview to discuss it and to clarify anything will be conducted, followed by a required, standard home visit. After that you will be approved to adopt from our rescue! Contact us about Billing today!

Bob

Male dog
Age: 2 Years
All Border Collie Rescue

Sex: Male Age: 2 Year Coat: Red & White Smooth Coat Weight: 45 Activity Level: Active Companion Good with other dogs: Yes

Bob and Tom were found in Lexington, OK were someone had abandoned them at a horse show. They were turned into the shelter and ABCR rescued them. They are great together, but are able to be placed separately. What can I say about Bob, he is your all around silly, silly but loving boy.  He is all heart and loves everyone to pieces. As bug as he is, he tries so hard to be the gentle giant.  Bob loves to lay on your lap when wanting to watch some TV but when outside he plays so incredibly well with my other dogs and is totally cat safe.  He has never tried to jump my 4ft. fence.  Bob would be the ideal pet that you would want to take along on walks, camping, etc.  He is completely crate trained and housebroken. Bob is neutered, up to date on vaccines, micro-chipped and on heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $300 and a home visit will be done. He is currently being fostered in Iowa, but his foster mom frequently travels to Texas, so he will travel to his forever home.

Nori

Female dog
Age: 2 Years
All Border Collie Rescue

Sex: Female Age: 2 Year Coat: Black & White Ticked Rough Coat Weight: 46 Activity Level: Active Companion Good with other dogs and kids: Yes

Nori has knocked around some in her short life. ABCR pulled her from an Oklahoma City shelter, then discovered she’d been spayed and tattooed at a different shelter at some earlier time. Maybe this is why she really clings to anyone who offers her love and security.
Although she’s a little shy at first, she’s a total lovebug once she gets to know you, and particularly likes cuddling on the couch. She’ll sleep at your feet when you’re working, and snuggle in bed if you let her, then happily move to the cushy dog bed on the floor once the petting stops. She likes to stay close to her people, but she operates more independently once she feels comfortable in a situation. It takes her a while to warm up to new dogs. She would thrive as an only dog, but could also do well with one or two older, more confident dogs to show her the ropes. She’s fine with dog-savvy cats. She does not like crates or small, enclosed spaces, but she’s housebroken, and is okay loose in the house. She shows some separation anxiety, but we’re working on that. Nori would probably be happiest with people who can be with her often: retirees, stay-at-home parents, work-from-home professionals, or anybody who likes to take their dog along wherever they go. She rides well in the car, but can get shy in noisy, chaotic situations, where she’ll hide her head behind you. She has not been tested with small children, fireworks, or thunderstorms. Nori has been with her foster for less than a month, so her personality is still emerging. She is spayed, up to date with her shots, and heartworm negative. If you’re interested in adopting Nori or finding out more about her, please fill out an application at www.allbordercollierescue.com and mention her by name.

CocoPuff in her own right is a gorgeous, fluffy-coat redhead who we believe is a Baussie (Border Collie/Aussie) mix.  CocoPuff might not sound like the typical name of a Border Collie/Aussie, but for her it is most fitting because she is as sweet as cocoa and her hair feels as soft as a cotton puff ball!  While not only being a cover girl, she is a super sweet and soft-hearted girl.  She wants to be with her humans every chance she can get.  If you want to give and receive lots of love and companionship, then apply now because this is the girl for you!

Age: 1 Year
All Border Collie Rescue

Macy is a sweet girl who wants nothing more than to be loved and accepted. She is a sweet girl who loves her foster siblings and also loves to bother them, being the youngest she thinks that's her job.  Did you say tennis balls? Well, Macy loves to destroy tennis balls or play keep away from her foster siblings. She loves to drag all of her toys out of her toy box and play with them. She loves her kiddie pool but she only put her paws in there and splashes around, never fully submerging herself in the pool. She would do best in a home with other dogs, as she still needs help building her confidence.  Macy is housebroken and kenneled trained, she still needs to have all eyes on her at all times as she still is a puppy. She is spayed, up to date on all of her shots, and is microchipped. Zina

Female dog
Age: 2 Years
All Border Collie Rescue

Sex: Female Age: 2 Years Coat: Black & White Semi Rough Coat Weight: 42 Activity Level: Active Companion Good with other dogs: Yes

Story

Zina came to All Border Collie Rescue (ABCR) from San Antonio, TX Animal Control Services in early July 2014. She was picked up as a stray without any identification and sadly never reclaimed by her owner. When this happens we believe it means the right forever home is out their searching for the dog who is supposed to be a part of their family. From Zina’s appearance, particularly her more broad neck, curled tail, and coat type, it is possible that she is mixed with something like a Spitz-type breed such as Akita, Canadian Eskimo Dog, Husky, Alaskan Malamute. Shiba Inu, or any number of others. Whatever the mix, she turned out to be a great dog!

Temperament & Activity Level

Zina is a sweetheart who seeks out affection from her foster parents, coming to us to be loved on, petted, and given a good scratch on the head. She is a very confident dog, always walking or running around with her tail up does and occasionally displays some alpha tendencies, especially with other female dogs. As an “active companion” level dog, like most Border Collies (BCs) and BC mixes, Zina requires daily exercise (walks, jogs, and/or dog park time) and mental stimulation to keep him happy and mentally & physically healthy. She is listed an active companion because she does have a good amount of energy and loves to run around and patrol the yard but does not stray too far from her foster parents within the five-acre fenced yard.

Cats & Children

Zina has not been tested with cats or children while in foster care with ABCR. But she does like to chase squirrels!

Other Dogs & Play

For the most part, Zina co-exists peacefully with her 20+ foster dog brothers and sisters, but as previously mentioned she does sometime display herding and alpha tendencies with the other dogs. We have not yet seen Zina “play” with other dogs in games like “chase” or “fetch.” Normally she just likes to sit out with us in the yard in the evenings, do her patrolling, and hang out nearby to get loved on. Now that Zina is coming out of her shell, she has selected one of her foster parents as “hers” and sometimes resource guards “her” human when other dogs walk by.

Training

Like most dogs in her foster home, Zina is kenneled for meals and she does so without a fuss! She also sleeps in her kennel all night without issues. Zina is a pretty smart girl and learned her name within a few days, already responding to it well. Zina is currently working on all of her basic commands (“sit,” “down,” “stay,” “come/here,” etc.) and already walks very well on leash. Zina is very interested in yummy smelling food on the kitchen counter so we are also working on “off,” “leave it” and stopping her interest in “counter-surfing.” She definitely has a great nose but seems to calm down well inside the house.

Adoption

Zina is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Her adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in giving Zina a forever home, please go to the home page of our website and submit an adoption application. We get in many applications every day and try our best to respond to each one within a week. After we review your application, a phone interview to discuss it and to clarify anything will be conducted, followed by a standard home visit. After that you will be approved to adopt from our rescue! Contact us about Zina today!

I-20 Animal Medical Center is amazing!! All the doctors, technicians and staff are the best. We had to take one of our dogs in for an emergency and everyone who helped us was great with our dog and with us. They encouraged us to call when we had to leave him and always answered and updated us on how he was doing through the nigh (even with many calls in a very short amount of time). The next morning Dr. Welch called and said that they had found something. She told us that Mikey was not going to make it and let us have hours to say goodbye. They answered all our questions and never once made us feel like we were imposing on her or her time. We have found a new clinic for all our dogs because of Dr. Welch and all the staff

Save A Mexican Mutt Rescue says...

I would like to thank the staff of I-20 for a great experience with one of our rescue dogs, Cuervo. Shortly after his rescue, we realized he had a broken canine tooth that would require a root canal. For sure we were not going to find a veterinary dentist in Mexico. So, I-20 Animal Medical Center came to the rescue! Dr. Bonnie Bloom and Dr. Ken Karger took great care of Cuervo upon our arrival. The staff at I-20 is always so friendly, professional, and socially in tune to rescue.

Jim and Kay Marshall say...

Excellent Care! I highly recommend you to our friends. Thanks to all the staff, especially Dr. Welch - we have a healthy dog once again. The love you and the girls showered on Rainey showed me how much you all love animals.

Janice Bunting with Tye says...

Our vet Dr. Litsey, referred us to you when Tye needed special boarding. We were very pleased with his care. We also really appreciated the staff's willingness to talk with us every time we called the ICU to check on him. It made it so much easier to be away from him. He came home a healthier and spunkier dog. Dr. Long was great with Tye and felt she took very good care to properly diagnose his condition and treatment.

Dave and Pamela Reitzel say….

“Cutie was a stray. When I took Cutie to I-20 Animal they were concerned for her health, and made arrangements to see her the next day. I-20 Animal set me at ease about Cutie after her exam. Now knowing that she is and was in good hands, I-20 Animal will be where I will take both my pets. VERY IMPRESSED!!.”

Nancy Schultz says…

“The doctor called the next day to check on Sophie and was genuinely interested in how she was doing. Very well done”

J. Headland says...

I cannot say enough how great Dr. Stinson and the staff were with Dirk and explaining the procedures. We have found a "new" place that I feel confident will take care of and actually care about Dirk. I have and will continue to tell our firends, family and co-workers how much we love I-20 Animal Medical Center.

LaTonya Thomas says...

"Shasha get's excited every time we exit the freeway to come to the I-20 Animal Clinic. Everyone there is so friendly and concerned about my pet's well being. Thank you all for such outstanding service."
