Dr. Mauri Karger graduated from Texas A&M in 1977 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine; shortly after, in 1980, she founded a small veterinary practice. She pioneered veterinary medicine when not many women were in the field.
After working for several years and taking patients home with her for overnight care, she once again challenged the standard of veterinary medicine. She opened one of the first 24-hour animal medical facilities in North Texas in 1987—providing first-rate service to patients and pet parents who needed loving care during hours other veterinarians were not open for business.
I-20 Animal Medical Center’s present facility, located on the Interstate 20 access road, opened in October 1997. The vision was to create a larger, 24-hour, state-of-the-art facility—specializing in emergency and critical services while maintaining routine services such as annual vaccinations, spays and neuters and boarding.
We have over 30 years of experience providing 24-hour veterinary care, and our family-owned practice remains focused on providing the highest standard of care and medicine at all times.
